Friday Prayer
“I do not understand the mystery of grace–only that it meets us where we are and does not leave us where it found us.”
― Anne Lamott
I love these beautiful words by Anne Lamott as they remind me what my heart definitively knows to be a Truth, that we are capable of lighting our loads simply by finding a way to forgive ourselves for those burdens we have carried around.
***
God, I ask that you surround my friends, my readers, all of your children in a net of forgiveness and compassion. We are often in a rush to the next and to the better, forgetting to stop and breathe along the way. Our burdens become so heavy and we must seek a way to relieve the pressure. We cut corners. We become addicted. We keep secrets, hurt others, hurt ourselves. Lord, we know that you do not want us to be in pain. You know you do not want us to be in or have anxieties. I ask that you relieve our anxieties both big and small today and that you provide us with the tools to see the light at the end of the tunnel–to bring some of that light forward right now. I ask that you bless us with the grace that you constantly provide us for if only we have cause to remember. Give us cause to remember. Give us grace. Give us light and love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
